With Covid cases on the rise, Army steps in; sets up 2 Covid-hospitals in Jammu & Kashmir

A 250 bed — Level 1 & Level 2 — COVID Healthcare Facility came up at Old Air Field Military Station in Srinagar while 100-bed COVID-19 centre came up at the Army Public School Domana in Jammu.

New Delhi: With the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir facing surge in Covid-19 cases, the Indian Army has come forward and assured full support to civil administration in tackling the pandemic.

Indian Army, in collaboration with state health authorities, set up 2 Covid-19 hospitals to help accommodate maximum number of Corona patients.

250 bed hospital in Srinagar, 100-bed centre in Jammu

A 250 bed — Level 1 & Level 2 — COVID Healthcare Facility came up at Old Air Field Military Station in Srinagar’s Rangreth area, with the joint efforts of Chinar Corps and Civil Administration.

Another 100-bed COVID-19 centre came up at the Army Public School Domana in Jammu.

The Covid Health Care Facility in Srinagar has been set up in record time by converting a new building, with three
floors into a state of Art Health Care Facility.

“We at Chinar Corp want to tell the people of Kashmir that we are with you in the fight against the COVID. Whatever is possible, we will do it. We have a state health department with us and we have established this facility with ICU beds, HDU, X-ray and a laboratory. The process of admission is simple. Health services will refer the patients and we will take them in,” said S Seth, Brigadier, Indian Army.

The Army had established the same facility last year when the pandemic had started.

The Indian Army has extended a helping hand to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir under a program – OP NAMASTE. Army personnel are engaged in active support to Covid-affected families on ground.

Under programs like ‘Khairiyat Patrols’, local Army establishments send patrols along with a medical team to the villages & distributing medicines, mask, sanitisers, PPE kits & other items which are essential to fight COVID-19.
