Woman assaults CISF official during security check at Bengaluru airport

The episode transpired within the newly inaugurated Terminal 2 of the Kempegowda International Airport. Sources indicate that after a scuffle with the female CISF constable, Gupta was taken into custody by the airport police.

New Delhi: In an unusual and alarming incident, a woman traveling from Bengaluru to Bagdogra in West Bengal’s Darjeeling district reportedly launched an attack on a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official during the security screening process at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning and has raised concerns over airport security protocols.

The 31-year-old woman, identified as Neha Gupta, hailing from Siliguri in West Bengal, allegedly declined to undergo the standard frisking procedure and proceeded to assault a female CISF officer during the pre-flight security checks.

The episode transpired within the newly inaugurated Terminal 2 of the Kempegowda International Airport. Sources indicate that after a scuffle with the female CISF constable, Gupta was taken into custody by the airport police.

Reports suggest that Gupta was slated to board an AirAsia flight from Bengaluru to Bagdogra, with her departure scheduled for 12:10 pm. Her encounter with the CISF personnel unfolded at approximately 10:50 am within the dedicated CISF bay for security checks.

According to an official account, when the CISF officer on duty, identified as Sushila Kumar, requested Gupta to proceed to the checkpoint for the routine security pat-down, the woman reportedly resisted the procedure. The motives behind her refusal are not yet evident.

A verbal dispute ensued between the two individuals, during which the officer reiterated the necessity of the frisking process as a mandatory step for her flight. Gupta’s reaction escalated, resulting in her allegedly assaulting the CISF officer.

In response to the assault, other CISF personnel present at the scene swiftly intervened to restrain Gupta. They apprehended her and subsequently handed her over to the jurisdiction of the KIA police.
