Woman swims to India from Bangladesh to marry her Facebook friend in Kolkata

According to the media reports, the woman is now handed over to the Bangladeshi High Commission.

New Dehli: Most of us will agree with the phrase that love is blind. Proving the phrase again right, a woman from Bangladesh illegally crossed the border to enter India to marry her boyfriend. However, the woman also swam in a river after crossing the Sundarbans forest.

Woman met her friend on Facebook

According to media reports, the woman falls in love with a man on Facebook namely Abhik Mandal, a citizen of India. As the woman, identified as the 22-yea-old Krishna Mandal, did not have a passport so she decided to cross the border illegally.

During her journey, she crossed the dense forest of the Sunderbans, known for Bengal tigers and other dangerous wild animals such as gharials, according to the police. During the interrogation, she said it took her approx an hour to cross the river but it was her love for Abhik that did not let her put down the weapon.

The due reportedly married each other at Kalighat temple in Kolkata.

The woman, however, is married to her Facebook friend but she has to return to her country as she illegally entered the country.

According to the media reports, the woman is now handed over to the Bangladeshi High Commission.
