New Delhi: The high-stakes battle for Uttar Pradesh Assembly election is yet to gather steam but the poll surveys & Opinion polls are already setting the mood for intense campaigning in the days to come.
In the battleground Uttar Pradesh, Yogi-led BJP is eyeing return to power for 2nd term, Akhilesh-led SP vying to dislodge BJP government while Mayawati-led BSP is hoping for some magical arithmetic to turn the tide in its favour. Congress on a constant decline in the Hindi heartland is hoping for a resurrection under the stewardship of Priyanka Gandhi, however poll surveys are predicting otherwise.
In the latest Opinion poll conducted by India TV, the sitting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath continues to remain the most popular choice for the top post. He leads other candidates for CM post by a huge margin.

A whopping 38.42% want to see Yogi Adityanath as UP CM for 2nd term while his rivals SP chief Akhilesh Yadav & Mayawati have managed to fetch 31.51% & 12.51% vote share for the top post. Priyanka Gandhi, on whom the Congress has pinned its hopes, has found lowest acceptance with the electorate as only 8.30% want to see her as the UP CM.
BJP seen as biggest party in Western UP
The Opinion poll shows that BJP has managed to keep hold in Western Uttar Pradesh and not much is slipping away despite speculations of party facing major drubbing here. The party is projected to win 59 out of 97 seats here in upcoming elections while SP is seen settling at 37, BSP 1 and Congress staying at zero.
In 2017 elections, the BJP had swept the region winning 82 out of 97 seats. Though it’s numbers are seen dropping, still the party is emerging as single largest party in the region. The Opinion poll predicts gain of 9 seats for SP, taking its tally to 37 while BSP is seen losing 2 seats while Congress losing out its 2 seats that it won in previous polls.
In terms of vote percentage, BJP will register drop from 44.4% to 39.4% vote share. SP’s vote projection is seen rising from 19.5% to 37.5%, BSP is losing close to 9% vote share however Congress is witnessing slight increase from 5.9% t 6.5%.
