Yogi Govt 2.0: Focus on planned urban development, Rs 550 crore proposed for Mukhyamantri Nagar Srajan Yojana

Lucknow: In the six years of the Yogi government, planned urban development has been promoted strongly. The government has placed a special emphasis on issues ranging from universal access to housing, electricity, and water to improved connectivity.

Through the Smart City Mission, the government is creating a safe environment in cities. On the other hand, with the future in mind, effective efforts are being made to raise the level of ‘ease of living’ by introducing the new Township Policy-2023.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath intends to make all 75 districts of the state modern cities under the idea of making Uttar Pradesh a $ one trillion economy. To achieve this goal, he first focused on making housing accessible to all. As a result, the Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) has landed on the ground in Uttar Pradesh with complete transparency over the last six years. Under this scheme, 17.62 lakh houses have been constructed so far.

The Integrated Command and Control Center and Intelligent Traffic Management System are operational in 10 smart cities as part of the Smart City Mission, costing Rs. 2000 crore. Projects worth Rs.547 crore has been started to develop Ayodhya, Firozabad, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Mathura-Vrindavan, Meerut, and Shahjahanpur as smart cities under the State Smart City Plan. 221 of the 282 projects approved under the AMRUT scheme have been completed. 8.46 lakh houses have water supply, and 7.06 lakh houses have sewer connections. 260 projects of green land and park development completed.

The Yogi government has done unprecedented work in the cities to increase employment and self-employment. Loans totaling Rs. 1190 crore were provided to 10,33,132 street vendors under PM SVANidhi Yojana. 55 vending zones for 8,759 street vendors have been constructed in 11 cities with Rs. 1,779, 67 lakhs. The state government has linked 493000 urban poor families with self-employment by forming 49242 self-help groups.

Furthermore, 740 air-conditioned electric buses operating in 14 cities have made travel more accessible to the general public. At the same time, buses are running through the Chalo App in 08 cities, saving passengers time.

—Under Deen Dayal Upadhyay National Urban Livelihood Mission, Rs. 280 crore approved for construction of shelter homes for homeless people. 142 out of 154 schemes have been completed.

—564 projects worth Rs. 250 crores for urban lake, pond, and pond protection.

—Ban on single-use plastic. 1327 tonnes of plastic seized and Rs. 16.47 crore fine imposed on defaulters.

—In urban bodies, 4000 garbage-vulnerable points were removed.

—Development of funeral places in 312 local bodies with Rs. 215 crores
