New Delhi: Navratri is a Hindu festival that symbolizes devotion to the goddess Durga and her nine forms. The 9-day-long festival is observed twice a year. The first one is Chaitra Navratri and the second one begins in the month of Sharada.

1. Samak Rice Kheer

You must have eaten and enjoyed regular Kheer. But if you are craving it while fasting then no worries, you can make this sweet and savory dessert with Samak rice as well.

The recipe is pretty much the same. Cook thickened milk with rice, and add dry fruits and sugar as per your taste.

2. Samak Rice Parantha

You can enjoy delicious Parathas by using Samak rice flour. The recipe is simple. Mix Samak Rice flour and Shinghare ka atta and prepare a dough. Use boiled mashed potatoes as filling and add fast appropriate spices to enhance the taste. Roast it on a tava and enjoy.

3. Samak Rice Vada

Are you craving something fried? Then you can try Vadas made of Samak Rice. Simply, prepare a hard dough with boiled Samak rice and Sabudana powder. Shape it into Vadas. You can also fill the Vadas using boiled potatoes. Add spices to your liking and deep fry. Your Samak Rice Vada is ready. Enjoy with a Satvik coriander chutney.

4. Samak Rice Pakoda

Much like Vadas, you can also make Pakodas with boiled Samak rice. Prepare a mixture of boiled rice and boiled potatoes. Add spices accordingly. Samak Rice Pakoras go best with a hot cup of tea.

5. Samak Rice Chilla

To make chilla with Samak rice, you will need rice flour and sago powder. Prepare a moderately thick batter with water and spices. Add green chilies and coriander leaves.

Cook the batter on a pan using ghee. Properly roast it from both sides and enjoy it with yogurt.
