On the fourth day of the Krishna Paksha, or dark fortnight, in the Hindu calendar month of Kartik, Karwa Chauth is observed. This year karwa Chauth will be celebrated on 13 October 2022. The shubh muhrat timings are from 5:54 pm to 7:09 pm. Married women will fast for an entire day without even drinking water thus before the rise of the sun sargi is consumed to provide energy throughout the day It is received from the mother-in-law or any other senior household member. To give women energy throughout the day, the Sargi must be ingested before dawn. Food items including fresh fruits, dry fruits, matthi, sweets, etc. are included in the sargi thali.

The importance of Sargi

The term “sargi” refers to a particular thali that mothers-in-law offer to married women who are observing fasts and contains various food items and gifts. Eating sargi is crucial since keeping a daylong fast can cause your body to get dehydrated and lose energy. Sargi will provide you with the energy you need to get through the day.

On the day of Karwa Chauth, the sargi must be consumed before dawn. Sargi is seen as appropriate to eat during the Brahma Muhurat. On October 13, the Brahma Muhurat will start at 04:46 and end at 05:36. Eat your Sargi during this time.
