1000th IPL Game: 5-time champions Mumbai Indians to face first-ever winners Rajasthan Royals

New Delhi: Indian Premier League, the biggest cricket league globally in terms of finance and viewership, will witness its historic 1000th game on April 30. While there were some speculations around the MI vs CSK game to be played on May 6 to be the 1000th one, but what fans missed that the league has had a total of seven games with no result, which makes the MI vs CSK game the 49th one this season and the 1007th overall.

The game will be special for another reason as Mumbai Indian’s captain, under whom the franchise has won five titles, Rohit Sharma is celebrating his 36th birthday today and the day is a festival for MI and fans.

According to a report by TOI, BCCI will have short ceremony before the game to mark the occassion and is likely to felicitate skippers Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson with some memento before the national anthems. Reportedly, Ravi Shastri will host the ceremony and it will also have a video dedicated to the league.

Rajasthan Royals have won five out of their eight games and currently sits in the second position on the points table while Mumbai Indians has won three out seven games and is in the ninth position. The 42nd game of the 16th edition of IPL will be played at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 pm.
