New Delhi: 2016 Women’s T20 World Cup Champions, West Indies have called back their experienced lot for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. To lead this experienced side, Hayley Mathews is roped in for captaincy duties. Alongside Mathews, the architect of the triumph of 2016, Stephanie Taylor and versatile all-rounder Deandra Dottin decided to come out from retirement recently.
Dottin is one of the most experienced players in the entire lot with more than 100 T20I caps for West Indies. Mathews is also well on course to the same feat. The Windies skipper currently has 96 caps to her name. The side is well-balanced with versatile players who can chip in with both bat and ball. Chinelle Henry, Zaida James and Mandy Mangru have added more depth to the squad.
CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe revealed that this West Indian side has found the perfect blend of youth and experience. Furthermore, Miles added-
We have a well-balanced team with a combination of experience and youth, and we believe this group has what it takes to compete strongly at the T20 World Cup…
