Simmons, who is now retired from international cricket, is a ‘free agent’ now, who is looking forward to franchise cricket. He has been a terrific batter for his franchises, being the highest run-getter in Caribbean Premier League and also hitting 1079 runs in 29 innings for Mumbai Indians, with whom he also lifted two IPL trophies (2015 and 2017). In his international cricketing career, Simmons has scored 3,763 runs in 144 games across all formats. Apart from his contribution with the bat, he also has 8 international wickets to his name.

His contribution to the West Indian side can be seen in the fact that he came in to play his first game in the 2016 T20 World Cup directly in the semi-finals against India, and scored a cracking 51-ball 82 to lead the Windies to the finals. His team then went on to win the tournament.

The cricketer wrote a heartfelt message on Twitter for his fans. He wrote, “When I wore the Maroon Colours of the West Indies Cricket for the first time on debut in ODIs on December 7th, 2006, little did I know that my international career would have lasted 16 years but my passion and love for the sport fuelled me every day.” Simmons played his last international game in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup against South Africa.
