New Delhi: Indian cricketers seem to scamper back for red-ball cricket opportunities as one after another senior cricketers are making a comeback to domestic tournaments in an attempt to be drafted into the Test Side. After the confirmation of Suryakumar Yadav’s availability for the same, Shreyas Iyer now has made his availability for the upcoming Buchi Babu Invitational.
In a statement issued by Mumbai Cricket Association’s joint secretary, Deepak Patil confirmed Iyer’s availability stating “Shreyas Iyer will play for the Mumbai team at the Buchi Babu Invitational…” Shreyas will join his Indian teammate Suryakumar Yadav for the Mumbai vs Jammu and Kashmir match which is set to be played on August 27 at Coimbatore.
For Shreyas, the tournament is a golden opportunity for the right-hand batsman to stake his claim in the national side. Earlier, Iyer’s contract was cancelled along with Ishan Kishan as the duo were unavailable for the domestic side. However, with a successful IPL season, Iyer made a strong comeback to the white-ball cricket. Shreyas Iyer however, has a lot of job left to do in the red-ball format.
The Mumbai team will be led by Sarfaraz Khan who has been in Midas touch at the domestic format. With the coming of Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav, the Mumbai batting lineup looks rock solid before their first game against the Jammu and Kashmir.
