“As promised to Ammi”: Nikhat Zareen shares glimpse of her CWG gold medal she’s bringing home for her mother’s birthday

Zareen has become the third Indian to win a gold in Light Flyweight category in Boxing in the prestigious CWG tournament

New Delhi: India boxer and world champion Nikhat Zareen shared a glimpse of her precious yellow CWG medal on Monday, which she nabbed in the women’s 50kg in Light Flyweight category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

Sharing several pics of herself along with the gold medal, Zareen took to twitter and wrote in caption, “Finally, here is my gift as promised to my Ammi and the Motherland. Ecstatic to win the Gold after a thoroughly joyous CWG in Birmingham. Your support and love moves me”.

Zareen has become the third Indian to win a gold in Light Flyweight category in Boxing in the prestigious CWG tournament. She was able to attain her much desired gold after defeating her opponent Carly Mc Naul of Northern Ireland.

Previously, a tweet from Nikhat had come to netizens notice and had gone instantly viral wherein latter had expressed her wish to bring home the CWG gold medal as a gift on her mother’s birthday.

“Happy Birthday to my superwoman, your smile keeps me strong & your spirit lifts me up. I wish I could be there with you on this special day but I promise jaldi hi apka gift lekar aaungi aate time. Love you so much ammi”, she had tweeted on August 3.

Social media users are showering their love and praises on the young Indian boxer on her historial achievement in Birmingham on microblogging site Twitter.
