Asia Cup 2022: Shahnawaz Dahani ruled out of India-Pakistan clash due to injury

As per the official statement, the medical team will monitor him for the next 48-72 hours and decide the next course of action.

New Delhi: Another blow for the Pakistan side as pacer Shahnawaz Dahani has been ruled out of the India-Pakistan clash due to injury. He suspected a side strain as per PCB and will not be a part of the upcoming game. After Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim, Dahani is the third Pakistani pacer to get injured in recent times.

The fast bowler got this injury while bowling during the game against Hong Kong. As per the official statement, the medical team will monitor him for the next 48-72 hours and decide the next course of action. It is a matter of concern for his side as with three injured pacers and two getting cramps during the first game, the fitness is in serious question.

Both of the teams will not be at their best as India too has an injured Ravindra Jadeja being replaced by Axar Patel. The management has gone for a like-to-like replacement for the all-rounder, but Jadeja’s three-dimensional services will be missed by India on the field.

Shahnawaz Dahani scored a quick 6-ball 16 against India to help Pakistan reach a total of 147.  He gave 29 runs in his four overs, bowling at a fine economy rate he could not pick a wicket. In the game against Hong Kong, he bowled two overs out of which one was a maiden. He ended up with the figures of 7/1 and contributed to the team’s 155-run massive victory to qualify for the Super 4.

India and Pakistan will face each other on September 4 in Dubai as part of their first Super 4 game.
