Asian Games 2023, October 1, Day 8: Tajinderpal Singh defends his Asain Games gold, Murali Shreeshanker clinches silver to take Indian medal tally past 50

Aditi Ashok became the first ever Indian woman to win a medal at the Asian Games in golf.

New Delhi: India has started day 8 of the 2023, Hangzhou, Asian Games in a strong fashion by adding 14 more medals, including three gold to their medal tally, taking the total to 52.

India is now 17 short of their overall medal records in the Asian Games, which they set in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, with 70 overall medals.

Indian runner Avinash Sable creates history by becoming the first-ever Indian to clinch the gold medal in the men’s 3000m steeple chase.

16:44: Bronze from boxing

India’s two-time world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen lost to Thailand’s Raksat in the women’s 50 Kg category semifinals by 2-3 and settled with a bronze medal.

Indian women’s team settles with a 1-1 draw against the South Korean women to stay undefeated in the tournament.

14:10: More medals from Shooting

Indian shooter Kynan Darius Chenai won a bronze medal in the men’s trap individual event, giving India medal number 22 in shooting at the Asian Games 2023.

India’s Zoravar Singh Sandu finished fourth.

Indian shooter Manisha Keer finished sixth in the women’s trap individual event.

India’s Jasmine Lamboria bows out of the Asian Games 2023 after losing out to Korea’s Ungyong by RSC in the quarterfinals.

11:58: Medal ensured

India’s Parveen Hooda defeated Uzbekistan’s Sitora in the women’s 57 Kg division quarterfinal match to qualify for the semifinals and ensure one more medal for India.

Pareveen also gets qualification for the 2024, Rio, Olympics.

10:23: The hot streak continues

India bags their seventh gold in shooting and eleventh overall as the men’s shooting team of Zoravar Singh, Kynan Darius Chenai, and Prithviraj Tondaiman clinches gold in the men’s trap event.

India also created an Asian Games record with a total of 361 points in total.

10:13: Shot on silver

Indian shooting contingent continues their dominant run as the women’s trap team of Rajeshwari Kumari, Manisha Keer, and Preeti Rajak clinches another silver for India.

Manisha Keer qualifies for the individual finals also.

9:33: Medal eye


Indian golf star Aditi Ashok clinches silver in the women’s golf individual event. Aditi was leading for gold till hole number 14 but slipped down to silver after two misfortunate shots. Aditi is now the first ever Indian woman to win a medal at the Asian Games in golf.

Indian women’s team also fell down to fourth position after leading at top spot till round 3.
