Asian Games 2023, October 3, Day 10: Parul Chaudhary and Annu Rani clinches gold, Indian medal tally moves to 69

New Delhi: India added nine more medals to their overall medals tally of 69, which is only one less than their 2018 Jakarta Asian Games’ 70 medals record.

India started their day with the men’s canoeing team and boxer Preeti Pawar securing bronze medals in their respective events.

However, the evening session of India was far more successful, where they added 7 medals, including two golds from Parul Chaudhary and Annu Rani.

With only five more days to go, the Indian contingent will be looking to go all in to mark their first-ever three-digit score on the medals tally board.

Indian boxer Narender secured a bronze medal in the men’s 92 Kg category, taking the Indian medal tally to 69.

18:42: Golden arms

Indian javelin thrower Annu Rani clinched gold in the women’s javelin throw event, giving India their 15th gold medal at the Asian Games 2023.

18:20: Medal alert

India’s Tejaswin Shankar clinches silver in men’s decathlon event after two days of intense sessions.

18:04: Raining medals from athletics

Pravin Chitravel secured a bronze medal in the men’s triple jump event, adding another medal in athletics for India.

18:00: The silver lining

Indian sprinter Md. Afsal clinches silver to give India their fifth medal of the day.

17:37: Parul’s golden run

Indian star long-distance runner Parul Chaudhary clinched gold in the women’s 5000m race, taking India’s gold medal tally to 14.

16:53: Third bronze of the day

Indian sprinter Vithya Ramraj clinched a bronze medal in the women’s 400m hurdle race by clocking a total of 55.68 seconds.

16:11: More medals confirmed from squash

Indian squash legend Saurav Ghosal have confirmed at least one more bronze medal by reaching the semifinals of the men’s singles category.

The mixed team duo of Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh also qualified for the semifinals, confirming India’s fifth medal in squash.

15:18: Medal confirmed

Indian squash duo of Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh has confirmed another medal for India in squash by reaching the mixed doubles semifinals.

14:39: Kabaddi updates (Women’s)

Indian women’s kabaddi team made amends for their 34-34 draw against Chinese Taipei in their first match by defeating south Korea in their second match by a huge margin of 56-22.

12:16:Into the finals

Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain qualifies for the finals after defeating Thailand’s Baison Maneekon in the semifinals of the women’s 75 Kg category.

Lovlina also gets direct qualification for the 2024 Olympics.

11:44: Bronze from boxing

Indian boxer Preeti Pawar secured a bronze medal in the women’s 54 Kg division after losing out against China’s Yuan Chang in the semifinals.

Indian archers Abhishek Verma and Ojas Pravin set up an all-Indian final at the compound men’s individual event after winning their respective semifinal matches.

Indian men’s cricket team, courtesy of Yashashvi Jaiswal’s 48-ball 100, defeats Nepal by 23 runs in the quarter-finals to enter the semifinal.

A minimum silver medal is confirmed for India in archery as Jyothi Surekha Vennam emerges victorious in an all-Indian semifinal against Aditi Gopichand in the compound women’s Individual event.

Aditi will be playing in the bronze medal match.

8:43: First medal of the day

Indian canoeing team of Arjun Singh and Sunil Singh Salam won the bronze medal in the men’s canoe double 1000m event to give India their first medal of the day 10.

Uzbekistan won gold, while Kazakhstan walked away with silver.

8:28: Badminton update (Men’s singles)

HS Pronoy confirms his place in the men’s singles round of 16 after beating Munkhbat by 21-9 and 21-12 in straight sets.

7:43: Winning start

Indian men’s kabaddi team started their 19th Asian Games campaign with a comfortable 55-18 win over Bangladesh in their first group-stage match.
