Asian Games 2023, October 6, Day 13: Indian men’s hockey team clinches gold, medal tally moves to 95

Indian wrestlers stepped up and won three more bronze medals to ensure India of crossing the 100 medals mark.

New Delhi: India won 9 medals on day 13 and confirmed 7 more and is now confirmed to cross the 100 medals mark at the Asian Games 2023.

India started their day with women’s and men’s recurve archery teams winning bronze and silver medals, respectively.

HS Prannoy also secured a bronze medal after losing his semifinal bout but was successful in becoming the first Indian man to win a singles medal at the Asian Games in 41 years.

Indian women’s sepaktakraw team and men’s bridge team also won bronze medals to add two more medals to the medal tally.

Indian wrestlers finally stepped up and won three more bronze medals to ensure India of crossing the 100 medals mark.

India ended their day on high by winning the gold medal in men’s hockey and confirming their place in the 2024 Prais Olympics.

Indian men’s hockey team have once again established Indian hockey supremacy after they beat Japan by 5-1 in the Asian Games 2023 finals, giving India their 22nd gold medal.

With this win, India has also booked their tickets for the Paris Olympics 2024.

16:40: First medal from bridge

Indian men’s bridge team secured a silver medal to take India’s medals tally to 94.

16:37: Raining medals from wrestling

Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat defeated Chiana’s Liu Minghu by 11-0 in the men’s 57 Kg freestyle category to secure one more bronze medal for India.

Indian wrestler Kiran Bishnoi secured another bronze medal for India from wrestling after defeating Mongolia’s Ganbat by 6-3 in women’s 76 Kg freestyle.

15:22: ‘Sau ke Paar,’ confirmed 

With Sonam giving India their 91st medal, India is all set to touch 100 medals mark, with 9 medals already confirmed.

14:42: bronze from wrestling

Indian wrestler Sonam secured a bronze medal after defeating China’s Jia Long in the bronze medal match by 7-5.

14:11: Silver from archery

Indian men’s recurve team of Atanu, Dhiraj and Tushar secured a silver medal, taking the Indian medal tally to 90.

13:36: Road to redemption

Indian men’s kabaddi team defeated Pakistan in the semifinals by 61-14 and booked their ticket for the gold medal match

13:31: Historic bronze

Indian women’s sepaktakraw team secured a  historic bronze medal in the women’s regu category.

13:27: Medal assured

Indian men’s recurve archery team confirmed another medal for India as they defeated Bangladesh in the semifinals by 5-3.

India will play Korea in the finals later today.

12:09: Historic medal

Indian star shuttler HS Prannoy clinched a bronze medal in the men’s singles event, becoming the first Indian man to win a singles medal at Asian Games in 41 years.

10:51: Wrestling update

Indian wrestlers flattered in the semifinals and will now all be playing a bronze medal match later today.

In the women’s division, Sonam and Kiran, and in the men’s division, Bajrang Punia and Aman will be playing the bronze medal match.

Indian men’s cricket team made easy work of the Bangladesh team as they defeated them with 9 wickets and 64 balls to spare.

Sai Kishore, with three wickets, and Tilak Varma, with 55 runs, were India’s stars in the semifinals.

Indian recurve women’s archery team of Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur, and Simranjeet Kaur has secured the bronze medal in the women’s recurve archery team event, after beating Vietnam 6-2, in the bronze medal match.

Indian women’s kabaddi team has qualified for the gold medal match after defeating Nepal by 61-17 in the semifinals with ease. Indian team is now only one win away from reclaiming their Asian Games throne from Iran, who defeated them in 2018 to win the gold medal.
