Asian Games 2023, October 7, Day 14: India adds six gold medals on the penultimate day, medal tally reaches 107

India needed 5 medals to touch the 100 mark on day 14, and with archers adding 4 early in the day, the women’s kabaddi team victory confirmed India’s 100th medal.

New Delhi: The Indian contingent has finally achieved their target of 100 medals at the Asian Games 2023, and it was none other than the women’s kabaddi team who helped India reach the iconic landmark.

India needed 5 medals to touch the 100 mark on day 14, and with archers adding 4 early in the day, the women’s kabaddi team victory confirmed India’s 100th medal.

India went on to add three more gold medals in the day, courtesy of men’s kabaddi, cricket and badminton teams, putting the full stop on their historic Asian Games campaign.

15:20: Bronze medal update

It is raining medals for India as the women’s hockey team beat Japan 2-1, to secure yet another bronze medal for India.

15:17: Redemption gold

Indian men’s kabaddi team, following the footsteps of the women’s team, has completed their Asian Games redemption as they beat Iran in the finals by 33-29.

14:36: One more gold

Indian men’s cricket team added one more gold in the Indian kitty, taking the total number of gold medals to 27.

13:52: Number 101


India’s badminton duo of Satwik Reddy and Chirag Shetty clinched India’s first-ever gold medal in the men’s doubles category after defeating Korea’s Solgyu and Wonho by 21-18 21-16, taking the Indian medal tally to 101.

This is also India’s first gold medal in badminton at Asian Games.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian athletes on their historic 100-medal haul in the Asian Games and also said that he is looking forward to meeting them all.

7:50: Golden century

It’s medal number 100 for India, as the Indian women’s kabaddi team edged out Chinese Taipei by 26-25 in the finals to reclaim their Asian throne.

7:30: Number 98 and 99

In the all-Indian finals in the men’s compound archery individual event, Ojas Pravin edged out his own countryman Abhishek Verma by 149 to 147 to secure the gold medal, while Abhishek settled down with silver.

India is now just one medal away from 100.

6:50: Gold number 23

India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam secured gold in the women’s individual compound event after defeating Korea’s SO Chaewon by 149-145, taking the Indian medal tally to 97.

6:25: First for the day


Indian archer Aditi  Gopichand secured a bronze medal in the women’s individual compound archery event after defeating Indonesia’s Ratih Zilizati by 146-140.
