Asian Games 2023, Day 3: India bags gold in equestrian dressage, 2 bronze in sailing; total tally at 14

India added one gold, one silver and one bronze medal in their overall medal tally on day 3 to take the total count to 14.

New Delhi: India continues their Asian Games 2023, campaign on day 3 with multiple medals and medal chances on the line.

Indian hockey team started the day with an emphatic win by 16-1 over Singapore in their second group stage match.

Indian squash teams also started their campaign on high as both the men’s and women’s teams won their matches by 3-0. The men’s team defeated Singapore, while the women’s team defeated the arch-rivals Pakistan.

Indian sailor Neha Thakur brought India’s first success of day 3 by winning a silver medal in the Dinghy (ILCA4) girls’ sailing event.

Sailing was once again at the centre stage as India’s Ebad Ali clinched a bronze medal to give India their third success of the day.

India’s final medal of the day was nothing but iconic as the Indian mixed equestrian dressage team won their first gold medal in 41 years and gave India their third gold medal at the Asian Games 2023.

Tulika Maan lost her bronze medal match in the women’s +78 Kg judo event against Mongolia’s Amarsaikhan by ippon.

After a long gap of 41 years, the Indian mixed team has clinched a gold medal in equestrian dressage.

Indian sailor Vishnu Saravanan has stayed in the third position in the men’s dinghy (ILCA7) event, with the final race scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

Disappointing update from tennis as in the women’s division, Rutuja Bhosale lost her third-round match by 6-7(5) and 2-6, while in the men’s division, Ramkumar Ramanathan goes down fighting against the second seed, Japan’s Yosuke Watanuki by 5-7, 7-6 and 5-7, to end his singles campaign in Asian Games 2023.

India’s Neha Thakur secured a silver medal in the Dinghy (ILCA4) girls’ sailing event to give India their first medal of the day.
