Asian Para Games 2023: India starts their Para Asian Games campaign on a high secures 17 medals on day 1

The 4th edition of the Asian Para Games will be 7 days long and scheduled to be played from October 22 to October 28, in Hangzhou, China.

New Delhi: After a grand success at the Asian Games 2023, India has started their campaign in the Asian Para Games 2023, on a high as they swept the podium in the high jump and club throw F-51 category.

India, just like the Asian Games 2023, has sent their largest ever contingent for the 4th edition of the Asian Para Games, with a total of 303 athletes, including 191 male and 112 female athletes challenging for the Asian glory.

The 4th edition of the Asian Para Games will be 7 days long and scheduled to be played from October 22 to October 28, in Hangzhou, China.

India finished in ninth position in the 2018 Asian Para Games with 72 medals, which included 15 gold medals. The Indian contingent will be looking to better their records, and they have certainly started that way as they have already won 12 medals, including 5 golds.

Earlier, India broke their record of 70 medals at the Asian Games earlier this month by winning 107 medals, including 28 gold medals at the 2023 Asian Games.

Podium sweep

India started their campaign on high as they won all three medals in the men’s high jump T-63 event as India’s Shailesh Kumar, Mariyappan Thangavelu, and Ram Singh secured gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively.

India’s Prachi Yadav finishes second in the women’s canoeing VL-2 event to give India another silver medal.

Another podium sweep in the club throw

India continued to shine at the 4th Asian Para Games as they once again secured all the medals, this time in the men’s club throw F-51 event.

India’s Pranav Soorma secured the gold medal with a record throw of 30.01 m, while his countrymen Dharambir and Amit Saroha secured silver and bronze medals, respectively at the same event. (firework.com)

India’s Monu Ghangas secured another bronze medal for India in the shotput F-11 event.

First medal in shooting

India has opened their medals account in shooting at the 2023 Asian Para Games with a silver medal, as India’s Rudransh Khandelwal has clinched the second spot in the men’s mixed 50 m pistol, SH-1 event.

Shooting at medals continues

India secured yet another medal in shooting as India’s Avani Lekhara clinched the gold medal in the R2 10m Air Rifle Standing, SH-1 category.

India’s medal tally moves to 11 as they clinched gold and silver medals in the men’s high jump T-47 event.

India now climbs to second position in the points table as they won their fifth gold medal thanks to Ankur Dhama securing the top spot in the men’s 5000m T-11 event.

Medal from judo

Indian judoka Kapil Parmar won India’s first medal in judo at the Para Asian Games as he secured a silver medal in the men’s judo 60 Kg J-1 category.

Double success from high jump 

India’s Praveen Soars and Unni Renu secured gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the men’s high jump T-64 event, giving India yet another multi-medal event.

India’s Aruna Tiwary gave India its first medal as she secured a bronze medal in the women’s 47 Kg K-44 event.

India adds another medal courtesy of Kokila, who secured a bronze medal in women’s 48 Kg J2 event.
