Bangladeshi captain Shakib Al Hasan manhandled by crowd at airport? Check the reality of the viral video

A video of Shakib Al Hasan getting manhandled by crowd, after early World Cup exit, is making its round on the internet.

New Delhi: The Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan, once again is making headlines on the internet, after a video of him getting manhandled by the fans at the airport has started to make its round on the internet.

According to users who are sharing the video, Shakib was taken into crosshair by the fans, when he returned home after an underwhelming performance at the ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

Interestingly, the Bangladeshi team only managed to win two matches in their entire World Cup campaign in India. One against Afghanistan and one against Sri Lanka.

However, they still managed to qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, after securing the bare minimum 8th spot, thanks to their superior net run rate.

As the fans were not satisfied with their performance, and were pretty vocal with their opinions on Shakib’s controversial call on getting Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews timed out, when the video made its entry on the internet on Tuesday, everyone believed it to be true.

Netizens were quick with their take on the video and soon the X (Formerly known as Twitter), was filled with people, sharing the same video with their own thoughts about it.

The reality

The reality of the video is however, very different, as the incident might be real but it has nothing to do with Bangladesh’s World Cup performance or with Shakib’s controversial call on Angelo Mathews.

The video is actually from March, earlier this year, while attending a commercial event. The video was shared on March 16, 2023, by a Facebook user with the caption, “This is what I saw. HowBangladesh superstar Shakib Al Hasan is being treated! Alas money.” (Translated from Bangla)
