BBL 13: Brisbane Heat climbs back to the top of table with a thrilling win, check out the complete points table

Brisbane Heat defeated the Sydney Thunder by 20 runs.

New Delhi: Big Bash League, season 13, saw a thrilling match on Tuesday, with the Brisbane Heat registering a thrilling win over the Sydney Thunder side.

After getting their last match washed out due to rain, the Heat made a strong comeback to register a win in match number 5, played at the Manuka Oval Stadium in Canberra, against the Sydney Thunder side.

Earlier, the Sydney Thunder won the toss and invited the heats to bat first.

Heat batting first lost their first wicket early in the form of Josh Brown (14).

The stand-in skipper Colin Munro (46) and Nathan McSweeney (29), then revived the innings by adding 67 runs for the second wicket.

Matt Renshaw (20) and Sam Billings (23), tried to give the Brisbane Heat a good finishing touch, but Thunder’s late strikes restricted them to a sub-par total of 151 for 7 in 20 overs.

Tanveer Sangha was the most successful bowler for the Thunders, with three wickets under his belt. Zaman Khan took two wickets, while Chris Green and Liam Hatcher also got one wicket each.

In reply, Sydney Thunder, suffered early blows as they lost Alex Hales (0) and Matthew Gilkes (3), before reaching the 20 runs mark.

Camron Bancroft (25) and Oliver Davies (35), then picked up the innings by adding some much-needed runs.

In the end, skipper Chris Green (30), tried to take his team home, but Heat took the last four wickets of the innings for 14 runs to bowl out the entire Thunder innings on 131 in 19 overs to register a thrilling 20-run win.

Xavier Bartlett was the most successful bowler for the Heat, with three wickets under his belt. Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Kuhnemann and Paul Walter took two wickets each, while Michael Neser picked up one wicket.
