BBL 13: Perth Scorchers jumps to number 2, Hobart Hurricanes sinks further, check out the complete points table

Perth Scorchers, with this win, jumped to the number 2 spot on the table, behind Brisbane Heat due to an inferior net-run rate, while Hurricanes are still waiting for their first win of the season.  

New Delhi: Australia’s Big Bash League, season 13, race for playoffs has started to intensify, as the tournament resumed after a five-day break.

In the match number 9 of the season, played in the Perth Stadium in Perth, on Tuesday, was played between the Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes.

Hobart Hurricane’s skipper, Nathan Ellis, won the toss and opted to bat first.

The Hurricanes stumbled at the beginning of the innings as they lost Ben McDermott (4) and Sam Hain (0), in the second over of the game itself.

Scorchers sink Hurricanes further as they removed Caleb Jewell (12), Tim David (12) and Corey Anderson (8), to reduce the Hurricanes to 47 for 5.

However, Nikhil Chaudhary (40), Mitchell Owen (28) and Chris Jordan (59), then added some much more important runs lower down the order to take the Hurricane’s innings to a respectable total of 172 for 8 in 20 overs.

Jason Behrendorff was the most successful bowler for the Scorchers with his impressive spell of 4 for 25 in 4 overs.

In reply, despite losing Copper Connolly (5), cheaply, Scorchers, with the help of Zak Crawley (65*) and Aaron Hardie (85*), chased down the target easily with nine wickets and 23 balls to spare.

Chris Jordan was the only successful bowler for the Hurricanes, with the lone wicket under his name.
