
New Delhi: Australia’s Big Bash League, season 13, has started to heat up as the race for the playoffs has started to pick up the pace with every passing match.
Melbourne Renegades, the only team who was unable to register a single win in the season so far, has finally been able to open their account as they registered an emphatic win against the Adelaide Strikers to jump two spots up at number six in the points table.
In match number 18 of the season, Melbourne Renegades took on the Adelaide Strikers at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne in a bid to register their first win of the season.
The Adelaide Strikers skipper, Matthew Short, won the toss and opted to bat first.
Strikers’ start was not ideal as they lost their skipper, Matthew Short (8), early in the innings.
D Arcy Short (54) and Chris Lynn (56), then led the Strikers revival as they added 82 runs for the second wicket.

Jamie Overton (29*) and Harry Nielsen (17*), then gave the finishing touches to end the Striker’s innings at 177 for 6 in 20 overs.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the best bowler for the Renegades, with his impressive spell of 3 for 20 in four overs.

In reply, Renegades also lost their first wicket quickly, as Quinton de Kock (0), departed in the very first over itself.
Joe Clarke (28*), along with Jake Fraser McGurk, then started to rebuild the Renegades innings but had to retire due to a hamstring issue with just 47 on the board.

Jake Fraser McGurk (70) and Shaun Marsh (54), then continued the onslaught on the Strikers bowling unit, ensuring the match going in the Renegade’s way.

Strikers tried making a comeback with quick wickets, but Joe Clark made his way back on the crease, and Renegades eventually came out on top with four wickets to spare.
David Payne was the most successful bowler for the strikers with his spell of 3 for 36.
