BBL 2023: Sydney Thunders and Melbourne Renegades opens their account to rise up in the table, check out the complete points table

Sydney Sixers defeated the Adelaide Strikers with the barest of the bare margin to rise in the points table.

New Delhi: Australia’s Big Bash League, season 13, had their first double header of the season, as four teams who were yet to register their first win of the season went toe-to-toe against each other on Saturday, December 23.

In the first match of the day, Sydney Thunders took on the Melbourne Stars in the match number 12, of the season at the Lavington Sports Oval ground in Albury.

Melbourne Stars skipper Glenn Maxwell won the toss and opted to bat first.

Stars lost their first two wickets inside the first powerplay as Sam Harper (5) and Thomas Rogers (21) were dismissed by Chris Green and Daniel Sams, respectively.

Beau Webster (59), first with skipper Glenn Maxwell (30) and then with Hilton Cartwright (22), added two great partnerships to take the innings to 172 for 10 in 20 overs.

Daniel Sams, was the most successful bowler for the Thunders, with four wickets under his belt.

In reply, Thunders started the innings strongly as, Cameron Bancroft (30) and Alex Hales (40), added 78 runs for the first wicket.

Daniel Sams (22*) and McAndrew (13*), added the finishing touch to take their team over the line and register their first win of the season.

Beau Webster, with his four wickets spell, tried his best but failed to seal the deal for the Stars, who suffered their third successive loss of the season.

In the second match, Melbourne Renegades took on the Hobart Hurricanes in match number 13, at the Bellerive Oval Stadium in Hobart.

Batting first, with the help of Jonathan Wells (40) and Quinton de Kock (38), finished the innings with 183 for 5 in 20 overs.

For Hurricanes, Nathan Ellis and Patrick Dooley were the most successful bowlers, with two wickets each under their name.

In reply, Hobart Hurricanes, with the help of Mathew Wade (82) and Macalister Wright (63), chased down the target with 6 wickets and 6 balls to spare to register their first win of the season.

Tom Rogers was the most successful bowler for the Renegades, with two wickets under his belt.
