Bumrah picks 6-wicket haul as England collapse in 1st ODI, check how netizens & former cricketers react

Bumrah ended up with figures of 7.2-3-19-6, which are the third-best figures by an Indian bowler in ODIs, the first two being Stuart Binny’s 4/6 and Anil Kumble’s 12/6.

New Delhi: India continued their dominance with the white ball against England, and it was Jasprit Bumrah this time who led India to a victory with his 6 wickets. India bowled out England for 110 as the Englishmen were not able to face the swinging and seaming deliveries by Bumrah and Shami. In the next inning, Rohit Sharma, getting back with his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan, chased down the score with all 10 wickets intact.

Bumrah came in to bowl the second over and Jason Roy edged the ball which went on to hit the stumps. This began what people are calling to be a bowling masterclass by Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah ended up with figures of 7.2-3-19-6, which are the third-best figures by an Indian bowler in ODIs, the first two being Stuart Binny’s 4/6 and Anil Kumble’s 12/6. He was partnered by Mohammed Shami, who took three wickets for 31 runs. Prasidh Krishna also contributed by taking one wicket.

Jasprit Bumrah ended up with his career-best figures and a ‘Player of the Match’ award. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma hit a 76*(58) as the English ballers had no answer to Sharma’s hook shot. England was unable to exploit the swinging conditions, which made them pull back their lengths, this helped Sharma to play hooks and pulls, which he is really good at. Shikhar Dhawan, returning in the blue jersey, played a slow inning of 31* off 54 balls.

Twitter is flooded with netizens and other cricketers reacting to Bumrah’s brilliant outing on July 12.

CricTracker used a Thor-like illustration for Bumrah.

Ranji star and Former Indian cricketer, Wasim Jaffer is known for his humourous tweets on anything and everything happening in the world of cricket.

As Jason Roy and Joe Root got out on duck, Sushant Mehta tweeted saying it is Bumrah’s duck farm. Apart from them, Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone also ended up their inning with a duck.

After the first ODI against England, Bumrah is now the number 1 bowler in ODIs.

The second ODI between India and England will be played on July 14 at Lord’s. India is currently leading the 3-match series by 1-0.
