New Delhi: While India prepares for the travelling Bangladeshi contingent, a faction of the Indian has strongly resented the decision of the board to hold a test series against India owing to the present geo-political situation of Bangladesh. Bangladesh recently saw massive protests against the ‘quota system’ which saw the ousting of the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from the country.
Subsequently, there has been an unprecedented attack on the religious minorities, i.e. the Hindus in the country. Although these sources are not yet confirmed by official sources, things look grim in the country for the minorities. Meanwhile, people in India believe that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), by continuing to play cricket with Bangladesh, is indirectly supporting the country’s economy.
Subsequently, strong calls for a boycott found a resounding echo in the country against the atrocities meted out to the Hindus. People in India are urging the government and BCCI to take a stand against the atrocities faced by Hindus in Bangladesh and cancel the cricket series in protest.
