“…caused by the bloating of a human body during summer weather…”- Here’s what Vinesh Phogat told the CAS

According to some sources, it is believed that the official statement regarding Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification will come on the 13th of August at 6:00 PM.

New Delhi: As the entire country waits for the final verdict of the Vinesh Phogat case, a new development has taken place in the same light. Earlier, the wrestler was found 100g over the permissible limit and was disqualified from her gold medal match bout. Subsequently, the Indian wrestler decided to challenge the official verdict of the Olympic authorities which was given just moments before the final of the Women’s Freestyle 50kg category.

Now, in the moment of argument, a peculiar thing has come up which reveals many interesting things about the fact that what went on in the backdoor of the CAS meeting. Harish Salve, India’s top-most advocate is representing Phogat virtually in the CAS hearing. According to the latest report which came up in the Indian Express, the defence counsel representing Phogat stated that the distance between Champ de Mars Arena and the Olympic Games Village has been one of the major reasons which has been the contributing factor behind the failed weigh-in of Vinesh just before the finals.

Furthermore, it was believed that the alleged 100g weight does not have a serious competitive edge over any wrestler. According to sources, the defence counsel for Vinesh said “The excess of 100g is extremely negligible (representing around 0.1 to 0.2 per cent of the athlete’s weight) and can easily be caused by the bloating of a human body during summer weather…” Then why was Vinesh disqualified? As the cloud around the problematic decision gets resolved slowly, Vinesh and the entire country wait for the final decision.

When can we expect the final verdict from the CAS?

According to some sources, it is believed that the official statement will come on the 11th of August at 6:00 PM. However, many sources have claimed that the official statement will be made public only on the 13th of August i.e. 2 days after the Paris Olympics is concluded.
