Commonwealth Games 2022 (Day 3) Updates: Indian women defeat Pakistan by 8 wickets, moves on top of table

With Jeremy, Achinta Sheuli and Popy Hazarika playing in their respective weightlifting events, India have its hope high more medals to come. 

New Delhi: Indian athletes are set to compete in seven medal events on day 3 of the Commonwealth Games 2022. The nation has already won four medals in weight lifting as Mirabai Chanu brought home the gold medal, Sanket Sargar and Bindyarani Devi won a silver each and Gururaja won a bronze medal. Jeremy Lalrinnunga added another gold to the tally.

Yogeshwar Singh competed in the Artistic Gymnastics All-Round finals and stood 15th with a total of 74.700 points. With Popy Hazarika and Achinta Shueli playing the weightlifting on day 3, India has high hopes for more medals.

On the other hand, India’s star swimmer Srihari Nataraj advanced to Men’s 50 m Backstroke finals. Indian women’s cricket team defeated Pakistan in a comfortable game as the Pakistan team got all out on just 99 and Smriti Mandhana hit a fifty to lead to the victory.

Lalrinnunga Jeremy lifts 300 kg to win gold medal

# 3:52 pm: India gets the fifth medal and that too gold. Jeremy Lalrinnunga wins gold with a total of 300 kg which is the new CWG record.

# 3:50 pm: Jeremy fails to lift successfully in his third attempt. The injury got worse as he failed in his 165 kg attempt.

# 3:45 pm: Jeremy lifted 160 kg in his second attempt and broke his game’s record again. However, he faced cramps and the injury triggered again.

# 3:40: Jeremy lifts 154 kg in his first attempt in the clean & jerk round. He registered a new CWG record with a total of 294 kg. However, he also got injured during his attempt.

# 3;35: Kiribati’s Ruben Katoatua completed all 6 attempts successfully with his best in snatch being 114 kg and in the clean and jerk being 144 kg.

# 3:32 pm: Jeremy registered his first attempt in clean & jerk to be 160 kg while Viapava Nevo Ioane registered 170 kg.

# 2:59 pm: Jeremy failed to lift 143 kg in his second attempt. However, he leads the finals after the snatch round. Edidiong Joseph Umoafia follows with the best lift of 130 kg.

# 2:53 pm: Jeremy lifts 140 kg in his second attempt to make a new Commonwealth Games record.

# 2:49 pm: UPDATE- Jeremy to lift 136 kg in his first attempt.

# 2:39 pm Vaipa Nevo Ioane lifts 124 kg in snatch. Lead the round by 10 kg. Jeremey’s lift is yet to come.

# 2:19 pm: Jeremy will attempt 130 kg in his first attempt in the snatch round.
