Commonwealth Games 2022 (Day 6) India Schedule, Updates: Lovepreet Singh clinches bronze, Indian men’s hockey team wins 8-0 against Canada

Boxers Nitu, Lovlina Borgohain, Hussamuddin, Ashish Kumar and World Champion Nikhat Zareen will play in their quarterfinal bouts.

New Delhi: After a historic gold medal in Lawn Bowl, Indian women continued their campaign in Pairs Sectional. Weightlifter Lovepreet Singh finished third to add a bronze medal to India’s tally.

It was a big day for Indian boxing as boxers Nitu and Hussamuddin won in their quarterfinal bouts, to ensure a medal. While Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain, world champion Nikhat Zareen and Ashish Kumar will fight to make a place in the semis. A win in the quarterfinals will ensure at least a bronze medal for the boxers. On the other hand, after playing against England, men’s and women’s hockey teams defeated Canada in style. It was a crucial game for the women’s team as it made sure that the team reaches the semi-finals.

A lot of action is coming up in athletics and para-athletics as Shot Putter Manpreet Singh will play in the finals for a medal. Tejaswin Shankar will jump for the podium finish as he got a chance to be part of the Indian contingent after the controversy. Aneesh Kumar, Devendra Gehlot and Devender Kumar will play the finals of Men’s Discus Throw F42.

Indian women’s cricket team has a big challenge ahead. They will play against Barbados on day 6 to get a spot in the semis. With eight medal events and many more that can confirm a medal for India, day 6 has a lot to watch out for.
