Commonwealth Games 2022 (Day 8) India Schedule, Updates: Sakshi Malik, Anshu Malik qualify for semi-finals

With one Olympic bronze. three world championships and two CWG medals, Bajrang Punia is set to lead the Indian wrestling contingent to glory.

New Delhi: With 20 medals, including six golds, seven silvers and seven bronze, at the Commonwealth Games 2022, India stands in the seventh position after day 7. After historic medal wins by Sudhir and Murali Sreeshankar on day 7, day 8 has a lot of action and medal expectations.

It is a big day for India as the wrestling contingent will be seen in action. With one Olympic bronze. three world championships and two CWG medals, Bajrang Punia is set to lead the Indian wrestling contingent to glory. Olympic medallist Sakshi Mallik and Anshu Malik won their quarterfinal bouts with technical superiority and advanced for the semis.

The action in racket sports continues and two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will be playing the singles matches along with Aakarshi Kashyap and Lakshya Sen. Bhavina Patel confirmed a medal after comfortably qualifying for the women’s Para-Table Tennis finals.

Indian women’s hockey team has a big match ahead. They will be facing Australia in the semis to fight for a spot in the finals. On the other hand, India’s star sprinter Hima Das will run in the semi-finals after topping in Heat 2.
