New Delhi: India’s Boxer Amit Pangal won gold in the 48-51kg weight category defeating England’s Kiaran Macdonald by 5-0 in Common Wealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Sunday.
Amit won the match by 5-0 Since he started brilliantly in the first round with good points.
Not to forget that, the opponent, was always in contention.
Although, Amit was the better boxer, the judges decided in favour of Panghal and he managed to get 10 points while Macdonald got nine.
Challenging the opponent, in the second round too Amit continued to to keep his upper hand intact and balanced the same momentum. Although, Macdonald tried to fight back he was little less near Panghal and lost in the second round as well.
Panghal entered the finals by defeating Patrick Chinyemba of Zambia in the semis by 5-0.
Amit Panghal had advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s flyweight 51kg at the ongoing CWG 2022, thereby confirming a medal for India.
Indian Boxer, Amit defeated Scottish boxer Lennon Mulligan 5-0 in his quarterfinal match at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Solihull.
