New Delhi: After swinging the red ball for the Three Lions for many years, legendary English pacer James Anderson now pledges his services to the white ball. James Anderson has registered for the Indian Premier League auction for the first time in his career. The Test specialist, who recently retired after playing the 1st Test match in West Indies in July 2024, has put his base price at Rs 1.25 crore.

While Anderson has registered himself for the auction, England Test captain Ben Stokes has pulled out of the event at the risk of getting banned from the IPL auction next season. As per the new rules, if an overseas player does not put his name in the mega-auction, he will not be allowed to take part in next year’s mini-auction, unless the home board – in this case, ECB – puts out a statement that Stokes is injured.
