FIFA unveils trophy, emblem for World Cup 2026, launched ‘We Are 26’ campaign

For the first time, FIFA has chosen an emblem that shows the World Cup year with the trophy to adopt a change in the design language.

New Delhi: International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) unveiled the emblem and the official brand for World Cup 2026. The federation also unveiled the trophy for the Los Angeles World Cup. For the first time, FIFA has chosen an emblem that shows the World Cup year with the trophy to adopt a change in the design language.

The launch ceremony was held at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, USA as the FIFA World Cup 2026 will be hosted by USA, Canada, and Mexico. FIFA President Gianni Infantino and two-time World Cup winner and former Brazilian footballer Ronaldo presented the emblem and launched the ‘We Are 26’ campaign to empower ‘people, places, and communities’.

Many FIFA officials and football players including FIFA Legends from the host countries, Carli Lloyd, Craig Forrest, and Jorge Campos also attended the event. The ceremony also witnessed a drone show over the Hollywood Hills. The event was streamed live on YouTube and FIFA+.

The World Cup will be held in June and July 2026, and the finals will be played on July 19, Sunday. 48 teams will be battling out in 16 host cities across three countries for the ultimate crown in the sport. FIFA last year announced that the 2026 World Cup will be the first 48-team World Cup as the federation wants the sport to be more inclusive. CONMEBOL will kick off the road to the World Cup with the South American teams playing the qualifiers in 2023.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup was held in Qatar and Argentina led by football legend Lionel Messi won the tournament.
