New Delhi: While England beat Senegal comfortably, there have been talks around them taking over the French goal machine Kylian Mbappe. The French forward has scored five goals and two assists in four games in the FIFA World Cup 2022. England needs to find a strategy against Mbappe, but can they?
In his second World Cup, Mbappe is looking like a machine who is neither sitting out due to yellow cards nor missing his chances on goals. He scored four goals in the 2018 World Cup and has better his tally even before the end of the campaign. He also had five goals in just six games during the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
Does England have any answer to Mbappe?
While Mbappe looks unstoppable, England’s defenders and goalkeeper Pickford are going to have a hard time on the field. The only English player at the moment, who looks to stand against Mbappe is Kyle Walker. Gareth Southgate seems to have a lot of trust in his defender due to his speed. Walker recorded a speed of 34.4 kmph against Senegal player Ismaila Sarr. Walker came back from a going injury and it looks like he is back in his rhythm as he is doing what he does best.
On the other hand, Mbappe is also one of the fittest and swiftest forwards and with the support of Griezmann and Dembele, the French attack looks quite formidable. Mbappe and Walker faced each other in the UEFA Champions League where the forward managed to score a goal. While Mbappe looks unstoppable, England has to try their best options to book their place in the semis.
