FIFA World Cup 2022: France’s Paul Pogba to miss due to injury, big blow to defending champions

His agent Rafaela Pimenta said that looking at medical reviews in Torino and Pittsburgh, Paul will not be able to participate in the World Cup.

New Delhi: After midfielder N’Golo Kante, the defending champions France has to go through another blow as midfielder Paul Pogba will not be a part of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. His agent said that Paul has not been able to recover from knee surgery so he will miss the World Cup. This also means that the footballer will not be able to play for Juventus.

His agent Rafaela Pimenta said that looking at medical reviews in Torino and Pittsburgh, Paul will not be able to participate in the World Cup. Pimenta said that only ‘wishful thinking’ can make him play now. He was one of the key players for the French team, and not only did he play the role of a fine midfielder, but he also scored a goal in the 2018 World Cup finals. In the 2021-22 season, playing for Manchester United in the Premier League, he scored one goal and assisted nine in the 20 games he played.

France has already lost N’Golo Kante in the midfield due to surgery for his hamstring injury last month. He will not be able to play for four months and will miss the tournament in Qatar.

While the French team looks like a strong contender with Benzema and Mbappe as the forwards, they will surely miss the services the Paul Pogba.
