Hours after being a world cup winner and the ‘Player of the Tournament’, the Argentinian legend shared a heartfelt note on social media. He shared multiple pictures of him and his team lifting the cup, with a note in the caption.
Messi wrote that he has always dreamed of being the world champion and he still cannot believe it. He thanked his family and fans back in his country for their support. The Golden Ball winner wrote that the merit of their team is above individuals and they fought for a common dream and achieved it.

Before this, he stated that he is not retiring from the national side. He said that he wants to complete his career on this and cannot ask for more, but he will be playing a ‘couple more games as a world champion’.

He went on to score two goals in the game and finished second in the race for the Golden Boot, just behind Kylian Mbappe, who scored a hattrick last night.
