New Delhi: French Railways have reportedly received ‘intentional’ and ‘coordinated’ arson attacks which have left thousands of passengers stranded on the railway stations. The state-owned railway operator SNCF issued an advisory for all the fans travelling to Paris for the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024 “Arson attacks were started to damage our facilities.”

Passengers remain stuck in the station

The effects of disruption were not only limited to France, neighbouring countries Belgium and England also felt the domino effects of the arson. Railway operators have predicted the entire weekend before the railway tracks are restored once again.

According to reports, arsonists have disrupted railway lines of the west, north and east. However, the southeastern line was not affected as the “attempts were foiled” before the eventuality could take place. As the entire city braces itself for the opening ceremony, the administrative functionaries of the capital looks to recuperate from the shock.
