From Boxing to Cricket: Day 1 at Commonwealth Games 2022 looks exciting, check schedule

The inclusion of new events like Women’s cricket, 3×3 basketball, Para-Table Tennis and Wheelchair basketball 3×3, has added to the excitement.

New Delhi: Commonwealth Games 2022 is going to begin on July 28. Indian contingent led by Olympic medallists like Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, Mirabai Chanu and others will look on to improve the performance of CWG 2014. India won 66 medals at the Glasgow games, out of which 26 were gold medals. The shooting contingent won 16 medals, aiding India’s third-place finish.

The inclusion of new events like Women’s cricket, 3×3 basketball, Para-Table Tennis and Wheelchair basketball 3×3, has added to the excitement. India will be competing in Women’s cricket among the new events.

Events to look out for:

Table Tennis- India won both of the gold in men’s and women’s team events, while Sharath Kamal won a bronze and Manika Batra won a gold medal in singles. India won a total of 8 medals in Table Tennis.

Women’s cricket- Inclusion of women’s cricket will surely add to the views for the event. team India led by Harmanpreet Kaur is a strong contender for a medal at CWG.

Boxing- Indian boxing contingent looks strong with various Olympics and CWG medallists. It is a great chance for Rohit Tokas and Shiva Thapa to gain a medal in Birmingham.

Squash- India won a silver each in Women’s and Mixed Doubles where Dipika Pallikal Karthik won both of them. She was paired with Joshna Chinnapa and Saurav Ghoshal fro Women’s and Mixed respectively.

Badminton- India won the Mixed Team gold in the last games, and with the Thomas Cup glory, India will be eyeing to defend their title.

Men’s Hockey- Indian hockey team is now an Olympic medallist after a long time, and with the inclusion of quick youngsters, the team will eye at the gold this time.
