New Delhi: Playing in his last year of the contract with Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel Messi was not named in the starting XI in the last game against Pays de Cassel. This again gave rise to the discussions of his future with PSG and speculations of him moving to a Saudi club like his contemporary Cristiano Ronaldo. While transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the World Cup 2022 winning captain had a verbal agreement with PSG for an extension of his contract, the picture is not clear yet.

Transfer expert and journalist Gerard Romero hinted that Messi might not be renewing his contract with PSG and might move back to Barcelona. Though there has not been any official confirmation yet, the news has made a buzz around the internet as Barca fans are happy with Messi’s return to the club.

After Messi’s PSG faced Ronaldo’s Riyadh XI, SAFF General Secretary revealed that the Saudi Federation would like to have Messi in their domestic league. He also stated that they want to see Ronaldo and Messi in the same league but there is no official news as of now.
