New Delhi: Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal on Tuesday took to Twitter and shared the first poster of a biopic based on her life. The movie titled ‘Saina’ will have Parineeti Chopra in the lead role, essaying the character of the Olympic medallist. The biopic is all set to release on March 26.

“I’m so glad to share a glimpse of my upcoming movie, #Saina. Lots of love to the entire team. In cinemas on 26th March,” Nehwal wrote in her tweet while sharing the poster of the film ‘Saina’.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

When super sprinter Milkha Singh won the gold medal at the 1958 Commonwealth Games, Prime Minister had rang him up and honoured him with a holiday.

Years later, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra made Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and rightly portrayed the flying spirit of India’s greatest runner.

Farkhan Akhtar underwent major transformation for Bhaag Mikha Bhaag. He underwent rigorous training for a period of 13 months to convincingly portray his role. Famous trainer Samir Jaura helped him in transformation.

Mary Kom

Though the trend of Bollywood biopics on country’s iconic sportspersons took off with the hugely popular Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in 2013. Mary Kom — a film based on six-time world champion Indian boxer MC Mary Kom’s life reigned like a star at the box office.

The 2014 film, celebrating the life and accomplishments of 6-time world amateur boxing champion from Manipur, was a runaway hit at the box office.
It raked in Rs 104 crores despite being made on a relatively small-budget of Rs 18 crore.

The Mary Kom movie was directed by Omung Kumar, who made his directorial debut with this film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali was the producer while Priyanka Chopra essayed the role of iconic boxer.

Dangal

Dangal -

A movie based on the life of Phogat sisters and their family’s passion for wrestling, ‘Dangal’ went on to create wonders at the Box Office, not only in India but also in China. The movie also released in China and made waves among the audience.

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story

This was a biopic on India’s celebrated skipper – Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The movie portrayed the journey of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a budding cricketer from Ranchi, who became the most successful captain of the Indian Cricket Team. He was a ticket collector before he became a cricketer.
