While everyone was considering the US Open to be her ‘last dance’ and a montage of her career playing before she entered the court, which said, “if you ever decide to return Queen your throne will be waiting,” Serena hinted that she may not be retiring at the moment. After the game, when she was asked about her retirement, she answered, “I’ve been pretty vague about it, right? I’m going to stay vague because you never know.”

This was great news for her fans as she may not have any plans to leave the court soon. Fans poured in love for the legend on the internet.

On the first day of the US Open, Serena won her match against Danka Kovinic in the Arthur Ashe Stadium filled with her fans. She won the game 6-3, 6-3 to postpone her retirement at least for a couple of days.

Among her supporters at the stadium was Olympia wearing white beads with the same hairstyle her mother had when she won her first Grand Slam at the age of 17. Actor Hugh Jackman and former US President Bill Clinton were also present to watch the game while film director Spike Lee performed the coin toss, Vogue editor Anna Wintour sat in her player box, and former boxer Mike Tyson was seen with Martina Navratilova in the stands.

Serena will face Anett Kontaveit in round 2.
