In the opening game for India, Pandya took three wickets for 25 in his four overs and Pakistan ended up scoring 147. When the openers could not contribute much to the chase and Virat Kohli got out for 35(34), Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya handled the affairs. Hardik scored 33* off 17 balls including three crucial boundaries off Harris Rauf in the 19th over and a six to finish the game in the last over. For his performance, he was awarded the Player of the Match award and he jumped to 5th position with a career-best rating of 167.

Mohammad Rizwan jumped to the second spot in the batters’ rankings while Suryakumar Yadav dropped to number 3 after his run-a-ball 18 against Pakistan.
