Harmilan Bains clinches Silver, emulating mother’s feat at Asian Games

New Delhi: Harmilan Bains and Avinash Sable added to India’s medal tally at the 19th Asian Games with their remarkable performances in athletics.

Harmilan Bains replicated her mother’s success by winning silver in the women’s 800m final, following her silver in the 1500m final just days ago. Meanwhile, Avinash Sable secured his second medal, a silver, in the men’s 5000m final, adding to his gold in the men’s 3000m steeplechase.

Harmilan Bains’ achievement in the women’s 800m final was particularly poignant, as she emulated the success of her mother, Madhuri Singh. Madhuri Singh, a former Asian Games medalist in the same event, clinched silver at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan. The mother-daughter duo has now etched their names in Asian Games history.

Harmilan Bains wins Silver

In the women’s 800m final, Harmilan Bains displayed her prowess as a formidable athlete. She secured the silver medal by finishing second behind Tharushi Dissanayaka of Sri Lanka, who claimed the gold with a comfortable lead.
