New Delhi: Tensions have shot up in the entire Indian sporting fraternity as the clock starts ticking in the Vinesh Phogat controversy. According to sources all the papers on the Vinesh Phogat Case have been submitted to the Court of Arbitration of Sport and currently, the entire nation awaits the final verdict.
In the latest development of the Vinesh Phogat case, the United World Wrestling (UWW) which is the international body for the governance of the game of amateur wrestling is opposing the plea of Vinesh Phogat. According to UWW, the rule of being overweight stands true for every wrestler who takes part in any form of competitive wrestling.
Vinesh has currently left the Olympic Games Village but is still residing in Paris for the final verdict
Can the Wrestling loophole tilt the case in Vinesh’s favour?
Amidst this tug of war, some positive news has trickled in which can make every Indian happy. According to popular sports media- Revsportz, there is a glaring infringement of the UWW rules which seems to have set moral yardsticks for the Indian wrestlers.
🚨 Breaking: UWW is opposing Vinesh Phogat on the basis of rules. But are the rules clear or are they confusing? Based on rules, the repechage is fought by someone who has lost to the finalist. Here, Vinesh was last and her results expunged. So, how come Susaki was allowed to… pic.twitter.com/ue8ryPGo7X

According to the rules, the person who loses to the finalists is slotted in the repechage round and fights for the bronze medal. Naturally, according to that rule, Susaki (defeated by Vinesh Phogat) make the cut for the repechage round. However, here comes the twist, according to revealing facts by sports journalist Boria Majumdar– How can Susaki compete in the repechage round when Phogat is not even the finalist?
Susaki was awarded the bronze medal (10-0 Technical superiority) after she defeated Oksana Livach of Ukraine. This important fact can turn the entire hearing in favour of the Indians. The only thing that remains is when will the defence counsel exploit this loophole.
When will the Final CAS verdict come in the Vinesh Phogat case?
