Here’s how Yashasvi Jaiswal almost broke Yuvraj Singh’s record, cricket fraternity lauds his fastest IPL fifty (WATCH)

While Jaiswal broke KL Rahul and Pat Cummins’ record in IPL he almost touched Yuvraj Singh’s 12-ball T20I fifty record.

New Delhi: Yashasvi Jaiswal created history by breaking the record for the fastest fifty in IPL. The RR batter scored a 13-ball fifty and went on to hit 98* off 47 to beat KKR by 9 wickets. While Jaiswal broke KL Rahul and Pat Cummins’ record in IPL he almost touched Yuvraj Singh’s 12-ball T20I fifty record. He even surpassed Ishan Kishan to be the highest Indian uncapped run-scorer in an IPL season.

Jaiswal had a record-breaking night as he smashed 12 fours and 5 sixes to score big yet another time. He is placed fourth in all-time fastest T20 fifties behind Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle Hazratullah Zazai, who did it in 12-balls. Apart from him, Sunil Narine and ME Trescothick have also scored 13-ball T20 fifties.

The RR batter began the inning with a couple of sixes and hit 26 runs in Nitish Rana’s first over. While his mistake led to Jos Buttler sacrificing his wicket in the runout, Jaiswal ensured that Buttler’s sacrifice does not go in vain. After hitting three consecutive fours to Shardul Thakur, Jaiswal came up with his 13-ball fifty with a single in the third over. He did not stop there and hit big as he led RR to chase 150 with 41 balls remaining.

The cricket fraternity including the likes of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul came forward to laud him while fans bow down to his brilliance.

In the game, Yuzvendra Chahal picked a four-wicket haul surpassing Dwayne Bravo to become the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL. Chasing 150, Sanju Samson also contributed 48* off 29.

Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in an over in the 2007 T20 World Cup to make his record and that stands tall even after 16 years of modern T20. Gayle and Zazai tied the record and the likes of Jaiwal have shown that an 11-ball fifty is not far away.
