Hugh Edmeades’s releases video message for fans a day after fainting during IPL 2022 auction

In the video, the 62-year-old auctioneer thanked everyone for sending him good wishes from around the world.

New Delhi: Hugh Edmeades, who was fell down on the ground while conducting the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on the first day, released a message on Sunday, giving an update on his health. Edmeades said he is ”absolutely fine”.

Hugh was collapsed on the ground while he was busy in an intense bidding war for Wanindu Hasaranga, a Sri Lankan all-rounder.

In the video, the 62-year-old auctioneer thanked everyone for sending him good wishes from around the world. Furthermore, he appreciated the effort of Charu Sharma who took over his position to continue the auction.

Following the incident, Hugh’s friend and international auctioneer Richard Medley had tweeted that Hugh is fine and ”will resume IPL Mega Auction 2022 in the morning.”

However, Hugh expressed his grief for not being able to present in person in the latest video.

The video was shared by IPL on Twitter. ”I am sorry that I cannot be in person with you today. As you can see, I am absolutely fine but I just felt that I was not going to be able to give a 100% performance, which is unfair to the BCCI, IPL, the bidders, and most importantly to the players. I Just want to thank all those people from around the world to send me good wishes,” said Hugh in the video.

Edmeades added, ”I am also very grateful to Charu for stepping in on such short notice to take over the bidding. The show must go on. I hope to see you later on but in the meantime, good luck to all for the bidding today.”

The bidding for the IPL 2022 player is being held in Bengaluru on the second consecutive day on Sunday.

Notably, Ishan Kishan so far is the most expensive player to be purchased by Mumbai Indian for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore.

Hugh Edmeades is famous as international fine art, classic car, and charity auctioneer and comes from is from Britain. He has reportedly conducted over 2500 auctions in his 35-year long career.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to take Hugh’s service in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctioneer in 2018. Since 2018, Hugh is providing service to BCCI.
