“I announce my resignation as a selector…” Mohammad Yousuf steps down from Cricket administration

Mohammad Yousuf who was the Pakistani cricket selector stepped down from his position on Sunday due to personal reasons.

New Delhi: Mohammad Yousuf who was the Pakistani cricket selector stepped down from his position on Sunday due to personal reasons. Yousuf had been part of the Pakistani administration on various occasions.

Although the reason behind Yousuf’s resignation was given as personal problems, unknown sources claim that the actual reasons were due to the criticism that Yousuf received. The unknown source said-

He was restless at being ridiculed in the media and on social media regularly and felt it would be best to just focus on coaching…

Yousuf also instilled his leap of faith in the players and asked them to continuously improve themselves so that the national team could reach new heights.

So far the PCB have not named a replacement for Yousuf in the role. Interestingly, Yousuf himself took over from Wahab Riaz, who was demoted from chief selector before being part of the overhaul in July.

Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chief Selector role has been in turmoil in recent times owing to bad selection decisions as well as haphazard team decisions. Yousuf will continue to serve as a batting coach in the High-Performance Centre.
