New Delhi: Captaincy can be a funny thing! When Rohit took over the charge of captaincy from Virat, everyone hoped that there would be a change in the fortunes of India post the “Kohli” era. However, with the loss against Australia in the ODI World Cup Final, the canon of criticism was again directed towards Rohit. India’s trophy drought is one of the main reasons that this barrage of criticism is directed towards Kohli and Rohit one after the other.
However, former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly has said that Rohit cannot be that unlucky to lose two back-to-back finals. ‘Dada’ as he was fondly called has predicted that India will eventually win the ICC T20 World Cup for a second time after a long wait of 17 years. Sourav even went to the extent of desperation and commented that Rohit might jump into the Barbados ocean if India fails to win the cup.
“It took a lot of time to make him captain because he was not ready to captain…” Ganguly stressed the fact that the amount of time Rohit took to mature as a captain is showing from the back-to-back half-centuries. Ganguly wishes the team luck as he predicts the odds are in favour of the men in blue with such a strong side.
