“I like to keep things simple…”: Suryakumar Yadav excited to work with Hardik Pandya!

In a recent video relased by the Star Sports on X (formerly Twitter) Suryakumar Yadav was seen talking about his ‘champion’ mentality.

New Delhi: India’s newly-appointed T20I Captain Suryakumar Yadav has reportedly shown his interest in working along with Hardik Pandya and the other Indian players. Hardik who was touted to succeed Rohit Sharma has been sidelined due to ‘fitness issues.’

Nevertheless, Surya has expressed his desire to work cohesively alongside Hardik Pandya and the rest of the team to lead the side in the upcoming series. Surya’s takeover of the captaincy duties subsequently marks a new chapter of Indian cricket in the shortest format. India team which won the T20 World Cup ended a memorable chapter with Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli and other senior players.

Now, the next task for the Indian team is to make a robust team with the fresh crop of young players that India has under its disposal and try to defend their title in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Although the T20 World Cup is still 2 years later, the preparations for the same need to start immediately which starts with the Sri Lanka tour.

In a recent video which has been released by Star Sports, Suryakumar Yadav has revealed the secret to his ‘captaincy’. The video which surfaced on the X (formerly Twitter) was from the time when in 2023 Yadav was asked about the basics of his captaincy. Surya captained the Indian side when the men in blue played against Australia and South Africa. India won the T20I series against Australia 4-1 while against South Africa the series was drawn at 1-1 each.

When asked about the newfound responsibility of the Indian side, Yadav remarked, “I am really enjoying this new role, enjoying spending time with everybody and we all have played together a lot either in franchise cricket or in state cricket…” As a new team under Suryakumar Yadav sets sail to Sri Lanka the country will pin its hope on the responsible shoulders of Surya to start a golden chapter of India cricket team.
