ICC T20I Rankings: Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Ravi Bishnoi make big jumps, while Babar Azam holds top spot

Suryakumar Yadav, who was opening the innings for India along with Rohit Sharma, is still in the second spot among the batters.

New Delhi: In the latest ICC T20I rankings, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam still holds the top spot while Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant have made huge jumps. India’s tour of the West Indies proved to be a good outing for the Indian youngsters as Deepak Hooda and Ravi Bishnoi played well, which helped them to make a place in the T20I rankings.

There is no change in the top spots in all three categories, namely, batter, bowler and all-rounder. Suryakumar Yadav, who was opening the innings for India along with Rohit Sharma, is still in the second spot among the batters. He is currently the only Indian batter to be in the top 10. Rishabh Pant was the second highest run-scorer in the series after Suryakumar. His 115 runs at a strike rate of 141.97 helped him jump seven places to 59th position. Shreyas Iyer’s brilliant half-century in the final game made him jump six places to 19th overall on the batter rankings.

On the other hand, Ravi Bishnoi bowled 10.4 overs in three matches to take eight wickets in the series. He had a remarkable jump of 28 spots to end up in the 44th spot. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar came down a spot after he managed to take only three wickets in the four games he played. Even though Obed McCoy was the highest wicket-taker in the series, he ended up going down seven spots as his economy did not match his wicket-taking ability.

A good performance in the series is a boost for Indian youngsters who will be playing in the upcoming ICC T20I World Cup in Australia. Meanwhile, Babar Azam is at the top of the T20I and ODI rankings while he is in the third position in the Test rankings.
